Here’s a list of useful software/apps that could be handy to know!
Official app available both for Android and IOS, you can download your list saved on the website to have them also when there’s no internet around. Pretty simple and with not many features, but does its job.
Acclaimed by many as the best geocaching app, I didn’t personally use it. It has for sure a lot of features and it lists you all the caches, even if you are not a premium user. It’s open source and only available for Android.
This is the new software I use, it works on all systems (Linux, Windows, and MACOS) and all the data that you load in them are easily sharable between platforms. It misses some of the cool things Garmin BaseCamp had (automatic picture geotagging and similar) but it’s surely the best alternative!
GARMIN BASECAMP (DISCONTINUED)
(It was a) Great software to organize hiking. It gives its best if you link your GPS to it, then you can see maps, geocaches etc. and plan your route consequently. Really handy in many situations. — EDIT — Unfortunately GarminBaseCamp is not developed anymore, and the last macOS update broke it (route have little black point on it that are treated like waypoints and you can’t delete them), and since I need a software that works on Windows, Linux, and MacOS (and Garmin BaseCamp never worked on Linux), it’s time to change!
